Dr Richard Reid is a Sydney medical professional, specializing in gynaecology. He grew up in Papua New Guinea, and completed his primary education there. He went to Church of England Grammar School in Brisbane for secondary education. He won a commonwealth scholarship to the University of Queensland, where he completed a six year MBBS medical degree in 1996. After an internship and residency at the Auckland Hospital Board from 1967 to 1968, he served for two years in New Guinea as a Public Health Officer. He then did his Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialist training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, working as resident & registrar in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at King George V Memorial Hospital & Balmain Hospital (from 1973 to 1977) and registrar in Radiotherapy at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (from 1977 to 1978).
